![]() ![]() That said, I'm not itching for anything to be upgraded on this bag, it is near perfect.Įdit: Just for fun and off the top of my head, things I would change to make it perfect (for me): Hypalon zipper pulls all around, possible removal of the strap pass-through option (I use it once in a while but I keep the bag full so it doesn't work well, it is a cool "hidden pocket" to stash some cash or something though.), swap the Fidlock to a v-buckle or a maybe a Cobra buckle, upgrade the key clip to something fancy (titanium on some sort of paracord or something along those lines) and if we are getting really custom (apparently we are) grey exterior X-Pac over teal interior. I'll probably buy it just because I love the bags so much and I'm sure they would include upgrades I'd like/use. Then the City Sling 2 addressed everything I was missing. Once in awhile you find that perfect product for your use case, the City Sling was that for me. It feels compact and tactical, like a small chest rig with just the right amount of space and organization. I just prefer the overall look/design of the City Sling 2. I don't have the Day Sling 3 but they do look quite similar. Plus I think they make the bag look better and more streamlined. So I guess if you are looking for pure compression to make the bag slimmer, they fall short, but I wouldn't remove them because they have proved really useful. They likely won't compress the bag much but I use them for other things: I keep a small heroclip on one to hang the bag or clip things to the outside, I can stuff gloves or a toque into them to carry them on the outside, I can roll up one of my reusable shopping bags and carry it there. The bag is slim enough already and I have it pretty packed out. I think with products like this, you’re usually one creative solution away from resolving common issues. The compression straps weren't a selling point for me. Also the sharp corners on the fidlock are a bit annoying at times, but I think mine is made of plastic, so I could just sand them down with a file. But given how much I like about the sling, I’m willing to let it go. *My* complaints are mostly the mesh pockets inside, they aren’t tight enough to retain smaller items when moving the sling around. I don’t use it all the time but it’s nice to have the option. The buckle is nice if you want to tuck away the straps, and I’ve found times where I’d rather just disconnect the strap than pull it over my head, like if I have a hat on or something.I agree though, maybe it was an oversight on their part. It’s not ideal but I legit didn’t even think about this until you mentioned it here. I could see how this is annoying for you. ![]() I have a skinny waist and this worked perfectly for me. Using a carabiner, attach the strap to one of the compression straps on the corresponding side. On the fidlock buckle, push one of the straps through one of the slots and pull it around to your side. It’s not designed as a fanny pack, it’s very loose around the waist, but this is extremely easy to fix.I know I’m late to the party but I have none of these issues and I don’t think you have to either. Other than the front zipper issue- it's a small negative but aside from that I haven't found a better sling in the sub 3L category thats built as well, looks just as nice, and is lowkey enough to not attract attention. I'm not too fussed about fanny pack usage since, from what I can see on every piece of AER promotional material, it was never marketed as a fanny pack at all. If you don't end up doing this- I'd reach out to AER and provide this feedback (I did in their DMs already lol) so they can see there's some customer feedback. Aer Has been designing some of the best around and with the resurgence of their tokai line in the city pack I had to buy one and find out does it live up to. Maybe they can spend the extra few dollars and just add an extra zipperhead to make it open either way in V3- hell, maybe this is something you can look at doing yourself since I think it should be possible. You can clip it to the key leash for some extra security. My workaround of this is I just use two small flatter pouches, the Joey from Able Carry and the Defy XPac Micro pouch to hold anything small enough to fall out. I think AER should definitely have taken a page out of the Day Sling 2 and just given it the double zip treatment. I have the same sling and that probably is my biggest gripe. A mind-boggling design decision if you ask me. Maybe I’m wearing it wrong, as Steve Jobs might say, but when I put it over my left shoulder (I’m a righty) the front zipper opens from the bottom to the top. When wearing it as a sling, the front zipper opens the wrong way.
